This is an invitation — not a pitch. We are building something this community has needed for a long time and we need the right people at the table from the beginning.
TIDE Lowcountry, Inc. is forming its founding board of five to seven members. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape a permanent community institution — the structure, the culture, the direction. Founding board members leave a mark that outlasts their tenure.
The Recovery Life Skills Center teaches practical life skills — budgeting, cooking, housing, legal navigation, parenting, job readiness — to anyone who needs them. Free. Always.
The Crisis Navigation & Negotiation Agency walks alongside people in active crisis — stabilizing situations, connecting resources, and navigating a path forward before they're ready for a classroom.
The founding board governs the organization, not the day-to-day operations. Your role is strategic direction, financial oversight, and community credibility — not administrative work.
Leads board meetings. Sets the agenda. Primary external spokesperson for the organization. Works closely with program leadership on strategic direction. Chairs the annual review process.
Supports the Chair and steps in when needed. Leads specific committees or initiatives as assigned. Primary point of contact for board recruitment and development.
Keeps accurate meeting minutes. Manages official organizational records. Handles state filings, correspondence, and document retention. Ensures governance compliance.
Oversees the financial health of the organization. Reviews monthly statements. Presents financial reports at board meetings. Leads the annual budget process and coordinates with grant reporting.
Votes on board decisions. Serves on committees aligned with their expertise — programs, fundraising, community outreach, or facilities. Brings their network and their voice to the mission.
Every founding board member signs the organizational bylaws, participates in the 501(c)(3) application process, and helps shape the policies and culture that will govern this organization for years to come.
We are not asking for money. We are asking for your time, your experience, your network, and your belief that people deserve a real chance at learning what life looks like on the other side.
"We are not asking for money. We are asking for you."
Board composition requirements for grant eligibility require that the majority of board members have lived experience with or direct connection to the recovery community. We also need voices from outside the program — law, finance, healthcare, civic leadership — who bring governance depth and community credibility.
If this lands somewhere real for you, fill out the form above or reach out directly. Let's sit down and talk about what this becomes.
